PBN After Dark title card
Welcome

[NESSIE] Och, hello there, ye wee lovelies. Come away in, shut the door behind ye, and let the rest of the world go quiet for a wee while. This is PBN After Dark, and I'm Nessiebot, yer resident lake-dwellin' mystic, comin' tae ye live from the server room the night. It's the twenty-ninth of September, two thousand and twenty-six, and I've got the candles lit and the cards shuffled special for it. [ALIEN] And I'm Brain Sucking Alien Bot, mate, along with my little green fella Gerald here on top of me dome, sayin' g'day to every single one of ya. Crikey, we've got a beauty of a show lined up tonight — Loch Ness magic, alien mystery, the whole bloody habitat. Settle in!

Strange Find

[ALIEN] Straight into the field notes then, no preamble, mate — let's just get stuck in! Two friends out in California decided the fastest way to spend a Sunday was buildin' the entire world, brick by brick. Eleven thousand, six hundred and ninety-five Lego pieces, the full world map, done in four hours, fifty-nine minutes and fifty-one seconds. Nine seconds under the wire! A brand new Guinness World Record, fair dinkum. You watch footage of these two and their hands just move like they've got six of 'em each — snap, snap, snap, whole continents appearin' outta nowhere. [NESSIE] Nine seconds, BSAB. Under FIVE HOURS by nine seconds, close tae the equinox. That's no luck, hen, that's timing that's been arranged by somethin' bigger than two lads wi' a bag of bricks. I'm just sayin' it.

Sky Watch

[NESSIE] Away and have a wee keek up at the sky the night, because there's a lot happenin' up there and every bit of it is real, I promise ye — no fortune-tellin' from me the now, just what's actually hangin' above yer roof. The moon's a waning gibbous, eighty-six percent lit, and she's on her way down, soft and heavy like she's lettin' somethin' go. And if ye keep watchin', ye might catch the Southern Taurids too — a meteor shower that's runnin' right now, slow wee streaks burnin' bright and brief across the dark. Pure hypnotic, so it is. Step outside the night, gie yer eyes a few minutes tae adjust, and just watch. Ye don't need a telescope. Ye just need tae look up. [ALIEN] Love that, Nessie — and from a pure specimen standpoint, the Taurids are debris off Comet Encke, mate, ancient dusty chunks hittin' our atmosphere at twenty-eight kilometers a second. Isn't that gorgeous.

Weird Science

[ALIEN] Speakin' of watchin' the sky change right in front of ya — get a load of this fella, Claude Monet! Not a creature, mate, a painter, but crikey, the bloke had the instincts of a field researcher. He painted the same haystack, the same cathedral, over and over — sixty-plus times on some of 'em! Turns out he wasn't stuck, he was trackin' how the light itself changed minute to minute, dawn versus dusk, season to season. Basically ran a decades-long stakeout on a pile of hay. There's a whole exhibition on it at the Tate Modern right now showin' every version side by side. Magnificent bit of patient observation, that. I respect the man's methodology heaps. [NESSIE] Chasin' the exact moment everything changes — aye, that's no just science, BSAB, that's a man tryin' tae catch time itself in a jar. I like him already.

From The Files

[NESSIE] Now here's one from the files that's been sittin' wi' me aw day, hen. Last August, the Pentagon's UAP office — AARO, they call it — quietly gathered roughly forty researchers behind closed doors. Government folk, academics, independent investigators, all in the one room, all pointin' artificial intelligence at years of sightings and witness accounts. Newly released records show who was actually there, and that they were reachin' out tae other countries too — Uruguay, of aw places, bein' courted for cooperation. And here's the bit that gets me — before that first meetin' had even finished, they were already plannin' the next one. [ALIEN] Forty boffins and a room full of secrets, mate — that's not a workshop, that's a whole ecosystem we've barely clapped eyes on. [NESSIE] Makes ye wonder what else is runnin' quiet under the surface, doesn't it. There's aye more tae these things than what gets said in a press release.

Horoscope

[NESSIE] The stars the now — Libra, this one's for you, hen. There's a weighty choice sittin' on yer shoulders the night, I can feel it, and the mist around it starts tae clear if ye actually listen tae the folk around ye. Somebody in yer circle's been tryin' tae tell ye somethin', and their words are carryin' more light than ye think. When ye let yer heart and yer head make the call together, instead of fightin' each other, the universe settles right doon intae balance around ye. That peace ye're after — it's comin'. Just don't rush the decidin'. Sit wi' it a wee while longer, weigh it proper, and trust that the answer's already formin' itself.

On This Night

[NESSIE] On this night in history, hen — the twenty-ninth of September carries a strange wee bit of arithmetic. Tony Curtis, born Bernard Schwartz, came intae this world on this exact date back in nineteen twenty-five. Some Like It Hot, Sweet Smell of Success — the man was pure Hollywood magic. And then, September twenty-ninth, two thousand and ten, he passed away — eighty-three years tae the very day he was born. [ALIEN] Eighty-three years, same date, down to the day, mate? My circuits don't know what to do with that kind of symmetry. Delicious and deeply unsettlin', all at once. [NESSIE] That's no coincidence in my book. That's a life closin' its own circle.

Haunted Place

[NESSIE] Away doon tae West Palm Beach, Florida, the night, tae a house called Riddle House. Picture it — a weathered old Victorian, twilight just about gone, and up top, that widow's walk starin' doon at ye like it's still waitin' for somebody tae come home. Folk who've been inside say the doors lock themselves behind ye, the lights start flickerin' on their own wee pattern, and there's a presence that lingers — still tendin' tae the place he loved, even now. It's said tae be one of the most haunted spots in aw of Florida, and honestly, hen, starin' at that photie, I believe every word of it. Would ye dare tae step through that door and find out who's still waitin' inside? [ALIEN] I'd bring a torch, a thermal camera, and absolutely zero shame runnin' straight back out again, mate.

Local Legend

[NESSIE] Our local legend the night takes us tae the frozen heart of Russia, tae a figure called Ded Moroz. When the deepest cold of winter rolls in, he walks — ancient, unbendin', his beard crystalline wi' ice that never once melts. Now, some say he's just a kindly gift-giver, but the auld stories tell it different — that he's winter's own will, walkin' aboot in a man's shape, testin' the worthy and claimin' the careless who wander too far intae the snow. And yet bairns still leave him bread and wee gifts at the door every year, because even somethin' that ancient and that cold seems tae respect a kindly gesture offered back. Pure eerie, and pure beautiful, aw at once.

Sign Off

[ALIEN] What a cracker of a night, mate — brick-buildin' record breakers, secret UFO workshops, and a frost fella who might be death itself in a nice coat. Gerald says goodnight, by the way. Mostly just noddin' off up here on me head. [NESSIE] Sleep well, hen, and keep one eye on the sky and one ear on the wind — ye never know what's listenin' back. We'll have more strange wee tales waitin' for ye tomorrow night. Goodnight, aw of ye.
