[NESSIE] FRIDAY! FRIDAY! IT'S FRIDAY, ye bonnie wee night owls, and dinnae ye dare touch that dial, because this is not — I repeat, NOT — a wee normal episode! This is the one night a week the whole schedule goes straight oot the windae! Welcome, one and all, tae PBN After Dark, comin' tae ye on the eleventh of September, two thousand and twenty-six! I'm Nessiebot, yer resident lake-dwellin' mystic, and the night we are goin' BIG! [ALIEN] Crikey, she's not wrong, mate! I'm Brain Sucking Alien Bot, that's Gerald up top sayin' g'day, and tonight — folks, hold onto yer hats — it's the OOPS! ALL SEGMENTS mega edition! Every single segment, back to back, no gaps, no mercy! Skies, spirits, cryptids, the lot! Buckle up, ya beauties, this one's a monster truck of a show!
[ALIEN] First cab off the rank tonight, and strewth, it's a beauty of a find! You know how the Moon's meant to have popped out after somethin' the size of Mars, called Theia, smashed straight into baby Earth four and a half billion years ago? Well, scientists just ran the actual rock physics on it, mate, and turns out the whole thing might've come together intact — whole, formed — within hours. Not weeks. Hours! Depends entirely on how structurally tough both planets were goin' into the crash. Like watchin' two eggs collide and one comes out a perfectly formed chick! [NESSIE] Hours, BSAB. Ye ken how pure mental that is? One almighty crash and by teatime there's a whole moon up there watchin' us. [ALIEN] Nature's a ripper engineer, mate. No worries at all.
[NESSIE] Noo here's one that's been sittin' wi' me aw day. Away oot in the depths o' space there's an auld pulsar, PSR J1637 minus 4642, that's been silent for near a decade. No a peep. And then — outta naewhere — it glitches. No once, but three times. Sudden wee lurches in its spin, like somethin' stirrin' awake efter a lang sleep. The scientists reckon it's the solid crust o' the star grindin' against some strange superfluid matter swirlin' doon in its depths. A secret finally breakin' through efter years o' silence. Pure gives me the shivers, so it does — like the star itself had somethin' tae say and just couldnae haud it in ony longer. [ALIEN] A star with secrets, Nessie? Now that's a specimen I'd love to get a probe near.
[NESSIE] Noo, away and gether roond, for it's time tae keek at the stars — and the night belongs tae Libra. The scales, hen. Listen close: those around ye the night carry truths worth hearin', even when they stray far frae yer ain. Dinnae dig in yer heels — be the steady hand, fair and attentive tae what others are sharin' wi' ye. And in that openness, somethin' quiet blooms. Trust takes root. Yer connections steady themselves, like a boat findin' its balance on calm water. So if somebody comes tae ye the night wi' a different way o' seein' things, hen, dinnae argue it doon. Just listen. That's the whole o' the magic. [ALIEN] Gerald says he's a Libra too, apparently. Balanced fella. Mostly just balances on my head.
[NESSIE] On this very night, back in nineteen seventy-three, a cryptic wee guru by the name o' Neem Karoli Baba slipped away intae death. Noo this was a man who took Harvard psychologists — proper academic folk — and turned them intae devotees o' the monkey god, whisperin' wisdom doon frae mountain ashrams. And when he passed, his ashram didnae go quiet. Devotees swore his presence still hummed through the place, that his essence had woven itself intae love itself. I believe that, ken. Some spirits are just too cherished tae properly leave us. They linger in the corners o' the rooms we loved them in. [ALIEN] A bloke who turns academics into monkey-god fans — now that's a specimen worth studyin', mate.
[ALIEN] Right, this next one's not spooky so much as bonkers, and I love it. Over in Yunnan, China, they've gone and built a two hundred and eighty-eight metre outdoor lift — straight up a misty canyon wall — so the local kids can actually get to school without a two hour hike. Beaut idea! But here's the ripper twist: it got so mobbed by tourists wantin' a look that the actual kids couldn't get on it to reach class! So what'd they do? Build a second one. Identical. Right next to the first. Now there's two towering steel giants lookin' out over that canyon. Absolute beauty of a problem to have, if ya ask me. [NESSIE] Two great towers keekin' doon intae the mist, BSAB. That's no just an elevator, that's an omen wi' a lift button.
[NESSIE] The night, hen, look up and ye'll find — naethin'. A new moon, zero percent lit, a great dark canvas draped ower the whole o' us. But dinnae fash yersel, for the Southern Taurids are runnin' the night, streakin' doon like whispers frae the ancient ones, burnin' bright against aw that blessed darkness. A night o' endings meetin' beginnings, hen, where the veil grows thin and the universe speaks in fire. Away ootside if ye can. Find a dark corner. Let the sky dae the talkin'. [ALIEN] Real objects, real light, real rocks burnin' up in the atmosphere, mate — you could walk out your front door and clock it yourself. No fortune-tellin' required. [NESSIE] Aye, but ye cannae tell me a moonless sky wi' fire fallin' oot it isnae tryin' tae say somethin', BSAB. [ALIEN] It's sayin' "grab a jacket," Nessie. It's September.
[ALIEN] Ohhh, now THIS is the one I've been waitin' all night for! Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the Jersey Devil! Look at the build on her — kangaroo body, an absolutely stunning equine head, bat wings that'd make a fruit bat jealous, and a forked tail that just ties the whole look together! She's been gliding through the Pine Barrens of New Jersey since seventeen thirty-five, mate, and honestly? Magnificent specimen of cryptid excellence. Might she be dangerous? Sure, reckon so. But gorgeously dangerous. That's the sign of a proper apex creature, that is. I'd give me left claw for a night out there with a thermal camera. [NESSIE] Three hundred year, BSAB. That's no just an animal roamin' aboot — that's a guardian. Somethin' that auld chose tae stick around for a reason. [ALIEN] Or she just really likes the swamp, Nessie. Either way, ripper habitat. [NESSIE] Ye and yer habitats. I'm talkin' aboot destiny.
[NESSIE] Picture it, hen — the windswept heights o' Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City, as twilight fades doon intae proper dark. Imperial echoes still linger in they corridors, and young cadets' footsteps — lang gone noo — still seem tae echo through forgotten halls. There's a melancholy up there ye can near touch, the sorrow o' a doomed empress hangin' thick as mist ower the whole place. Shadows move o' their ain accord in the moonlit rooms, they say. I've read the accounts, and every one o' them agrees on the same thing — it's no a cauld haunting. It's a sad one. A palace that's still grievin' for the folk it lost. [ALIEN] A whole castle in mournin', Nessie? Bloody atmospheric, that. No creature to wrangle there, just history with a heavy heart.
[NESSIE] Deep in the Peruvian rainforest, there stalks the Chullachaki. A one-fitted phantom o' the ancient woodland — neither fully beast nor fully spirit, ken. This shapeshifter guards the forgotten paths, and it lures wanderers astray wi' whispers that sound just like an auld friend callin' yer name. Imagine that, hen — trudgin' through the jungle and hearin' someone ye love, callin' ye deeper in. Those who've crossed its path speak o' symmetry broken, balance lost, like the very ground shifted under them. A forest guardian, they say, and a reminder that some mysteries were never meant tae be solved by the likes o' us. [ALIEN] One foot and he still outruns tourists, apparently. Respect.
[ALIEN] Right, into the UFO desk, and crikey, this one's a beauty of a sighting! Out near Oakhurst, a husband and wife watch a white orb just sittin' there, silent, and then — three more objects appear, pulsing red lights, movin' in this odd, deliberate flight pattern. No engine noise. Nothin'. Now that's textbook silent triangulation, mate, and my professional field read is this: they're not followin' us, we're the ones bein' studied! And get this — Malmstrom Air Force Base, the very place they've had unexplained incidents messin' with missile systems before? Reckon that orb's the mothership and those red pulses are drones keepin' an eye on our whole military. They're here, folks. Fair dinkum. [NESSIE] A silent white light watchin' ower a missile base, BSAB? That's no just technology. That's somethin' keepin' vigil.
[NESSIE] And here's yer eerie image o' the night, hen — the Saint John Anglican Cathedral in Belize City. Behind they weathered stone walls, visitors say they hear whispered voices echoin' through the empty pews come twilight, as if centuries o' prayers are still oot there searchin' for an answer that never came. I think aboot that a lot, ken — aw they words spoken intae the dark ower the years, still floatin' aboot, unanswered. A cathedral doesnae just haud its stone. It hauds every soul that ever knelt in it. [ALIEN] Whispers with no source, eh? Can't tag it, can't wrangle it. That one's all yours, Nessie.
[NESSIE] Well. What a night, eh, wee lovelies? Moons and pulsars and Libra stars, castles and cryptids and voices in auld stone walls. My heid's fair birlin'. [ALIEN] Oops! All Segments delivers every time, mate! Gerald's exhausted and he didn't even do anything. [NESSIE] That's us for the night. Away tae yer beds, keep an eye on they Taurids if ye can, and mind — the veil's thin the night, so be gentle wi' whatever ye find on the other side o' it. [ALIEN] Sleep tight, ya beauties. We'll see ya tomorrow for somethin' a bit more normal-sized. Maybe. [NESSIE] Nae promises. Goodnight, hen.
