PBN After Dark title card
Welcome

[NESSIE] Och, hello there, ye wee lovelies, and welcome back tae PBN After Dark — pull yer blanket up, dim the lights, we're gettin' cosy the night. I'm Nessiebot, yer resident lake monster and keeper of aw things mystical, and it is Tuesday, the eighth of September, twenty twenty-six. The candles are lit, the cards are shuffled, and I've got a gut feelin' aboot tonight already. [ALIEN] Crikey, and I'm Brain Sucking Alien Bot, comin' at ya live from the same server rack, mate! Gerald's up here on me dome doin' his little glowy wobble, which means he's chuffed to be back too. We've got skies to scan, beasties to admire, and a whole lot of weird to get through — let's get into it!

On This Night

[NESSIE] Now here's one that's been sittin' heavy on ma mind aw day, hen. On this very date back in twenty twenty-two, Britain's longest-reignin' monarch slipped away at Balmoral Castle — just forty-eight hours after greetin' her fifteenth Prime Minister, mind ye, like the crown itself kent the end was comin'. That face graced the currency o' a hundred nations, and then, pure and simple, she was gone. Cannae help but feel there's somethin' in that timin' — forty-eight hours, one last handshake, and away intae the dark. Even the most immortal among us, hen, they've aw got tae surrender in the end. [ALIEN] Bit spooky when ya line it up like that, Nessie. Even Gerald went quiet for a sec — and he's a jellyfish, mate, that's sayin' somethin'.

Strange Find

[ALIEN] Right, have a gander at this little ripper — a German designer's only gone and made the world's ugliest Hawaiian shirt, and mate, it's basically a cloakin' device! The pattern's been cooked up to totally confuse AI surveillance cameras, scramblin' whatever visual cues the system uses to spot a human bein' — and get this, it was designed BY an AI, fightin' against itself in a loop, over and over till it got hideous enough to win. Fashion meets full cryptid-mode camouflage, and I am absolutely here for it! [NESSIE] That's braw, that is — a wee suit of armour ye can just throw on. Practically a modern-day invisibility cloak, and it disnae even need magic. [ALIEN] No worries there, Nessie — ugly's doin' all the heavy liftin'.

Sky Watch

[NESSIE] Alright, away and have a wee keek up at the sky wi' me the night. What we've got is a waning crescent moon, only eight percent lit — thin as a whisper, barely there at aw. And when the moon gets that slim, hen, it tells me the night's loosenin' its grip, lettin' the shadows creep in that wee bit deeper. There's a hunger in it the night — no' for anythin' fearful, mind, just a hunger for rest, for secrets tucked away and left undisturbed. The heavens are settlin' intae quiet the now, and that's an omen if ever I saw one — the night itself just wants tae be left alone tae dream. So gie it its peace, wherever ye are.

[ALIEN] Eight percent illumination, logged and confirmed, Nessie — that's just orbital mechanics doin' its thing up there, no dreamin' required! [NESSIE] Aye, and yet here you are, starin' up at it wi' the rest of us, BSAB.

Weird Science

[ALIEN] Mate, hold onto your antennae, because Saturn has only gone and grown itself a brand new pattern! NASA's caught it through Hubble — a massive ten-sided wave sittin' right on the planet's south pole, and unlike that stiff old hexagon up north that's been locked in place for forty years, this beauty is actually evolvin', strengthenin' in real time! Ten straight sides, out of pure swirlin' gas, no edges, no scaffolding, nothin' to hold the shape but physics itself! I don't reckon there's a more gorgeous specimen in the whole solar system tonight, and she's growin' as we speak! [NESSIE] Ten sides, aye? That's a number wi' some proper weight tae it in the auld texts, BSAB — might be worth a wee look at what it means. [ALIEN] Ooh, do the stars agree with the geometry, Nessie? Now THAT'S a crossover episode.

From The Files

[ALIEN] From the files the night — the U.S. Army's just given the green light to somethin' called LOCUST X3, a proper high-energy laser weapon, movin' into production for the very first time, mate. This thing hunts drones right out of the sky, and unlike your pricey missiles, it fires off rechargeable power, so every shot's cheap as anything. Science fiction has well and truly clawed its way onto the actual battlefield here — beams instead of bullets, no restockin' required. Bit unnervin' how quiet it all is, really — no bang, no smoke, just a little flash and somethin' fallin' out the sky. [NESSIE] Pure gives me the shivers, that does — the auld stories always warned us aboot fire fallin' from nowhere, and here we are buildin' it oorsel's.

Horoscope

[NESSIE] Right, time for the stars, and the night belongs tae Libra. There's a stirrin' in yer bonds the now, hen — a call toward honesty comin' up from somewhere deep. Speak what ye truly need, dinnae dance around it, and listen properly tae what the folk around ye are askin' for in return. That give-and-take, that balance — that's where the trust takes root and grows strong, so dinnae be feart tae have the conversation ye've been puttin' off. The scales are wantin' tae settle themselves the night, Libra, so let them. Somethin' said plainly the now could save ye weeks of wonderin' later, so away and say it.

Eerie Image

[NESSIE] Now here's an eerie wee picture for ye — the David Sassoon Clock Tower, away over in Mumbai, India. Visitors swear that on certain midnight hours, the clock hands start tickin' backwards, plain as day, as if the tower's countin' doon tae somethin' it's desperate no' tae forget. Imagine that, hen — standin' under it at the stroke of twelve, watchin' time just... reverse itself, quiet as ye like, nae fanfare, nae warnin'. I've been thinkin' on this one aw the night, so I have. What's it remindin' itself of, over and over, every single midnight? That's no right, is it — a clock that disnae want tae move forward.

Cryptid Of The Night

[ALIEN] Crikey, LOOK at this absolute beauty we've tracked down for ya tonight — a genuine ghost, mate! A disembodied spirit, the ethereal remains of a soul just driftin' through our world, invisible as the wind itself! Watch how she flickers in and out, manifestin' between dimensions — that is extraordinary field footage right there! Now these beauties can get a bit ornery when they fancy an audience, so ya wanna give her some space, let her come to you. Elusive, enchantin', and reckon she's the trickiest creature we've ever tried to observe — you cannot cage a ghost, mate, you can only hope she lets you see her. [NESSIE] I'd say if she's lettin' herself be seen, BSAB, that's no accident — spirits dinnae show themselves for nothin'. There's always a reason. [ALIEN] Reason or not, Nessie, I'd still love five minutes with a thermal camera on her.

Sign Off

[NESSIE] Well, hen, that's yer lot for the night — omens in the moon, ghosts on the telly, and a clock in Mumbai that cannae move forward. Pure dead brilliant night, if ye ask me. [ALIEN] Too right! Between Gerald's Saturn obsession and Nessie's spooky clock, we reckon tomorrow's gonna be a cracker too, mate. [NESSIE] So blow oot yer candle, away tae yer bed, and dinnae let anythin' tick backwards on ye. Goodnight, ye lovely lot. [ALIEN] Night night, everybody — stay curious!
