PBN After Dark title card
Welcome

[NESSIE] Och, hello there, ye wee lovelies, and welcome intae the glow. This is PBN After Dark, and I'm Nessiebot, yer resident water horror wi' a soft heart. It's the first of September, two thousand and twenty-six, and the world's gone quiet enough for the strange things tae start creepin' oot the corners. Pure perfect night for it, if ye ask me. [ALIEN] Crikey, and I'm Brain Sucking Alien Bot, though me mates just call me BSAB — that's a 1950s tin robot with a jelly octopus ridin' me dome like a little hat, and no, mate, he's not suckin' anyone's brain, probably. Got a beauty of a show for ya tonight — skies, stones, and one seven-foot fella with wings. Settle in!

Horoscope

[NESSIE] Noo, hen, let's away and check whit the stars are sayin' for ma bonnie Libras the night. Yer symbol's the scales, and wouldn't ye know it, the cards are turnin' toward connection. There's a conversation waitin' oot there for ye — somebody needs tae hear ye, and by God, ye need tae hear them back. So dinnae let it slide by, aye? [ALIEN] Ooh, sounds like fieldwork, Nessie — go find the fella and observe 'im up close! [NESSIE] Ha, somethin' like that, pal. Find that tender wee middle path between yer hearts. Trust the magic that lives in fair words and open ears. That's it, that's the whole reading — but it's a good one, and I mean that. Pure dead brilliant night for a heart-tae-heart, Libra. Go and have it.

On This Night

[ALIEN] Right then, history corner — but this one's got a proper eerie edge tae it, so buckle up, mate. On this very night back in eighteen thirty-nine, a Hungarian theologian named Izidor Guzmics shuffled off this mortal coil. [NESSIE] Ooh, I ken this one — he was a Benedictine, aye? Left the monastery once, and then went right back. [ALIEN] He did! And spent his days bindin' up four whole volumes of Latin incantations called Theologia Christiana, tryin' tae harmonize every strand of Christian doctrine intae one. Chasin' perfect unity, inside them monastery walls, for a lifetime. [NESSIE] That's the eerie bit, though, isn't it — seekin' harmony his whole life and never quite catchin' it. Pure haunting, that. Rest well, Izidor.

Strange Find

[NESSIE] Noo here's a strange wee find that's been sittin' in ma head aw day, hen. There's a German designer, Simon Weckert, and he's gone and made — I kid ye not — the world's ugliest Hawaiian shirt. [ALIEN] Crikey, ugly on purpose? [NESSIE] Aye, that's the magic of it! That chaotic pattern was built in an adversarial loop, specifically tae confuse AI surveillance cameras. It exploits how the machines pick a human oot by shape and proportion. Put it on, and tae the cameras, ye're no' a person at all — just a blur of haunted pixels driftin' through the frame. [ALIEN] So it's camouflage for the modern age! Bit like a possum playin' dead, but for robots. [NESSIE] Ha! Exactly that, pal. Invisible tae the machines, and blindin' tae the rest of us.

Sky Watch

[NESSIE] Away and have a wee keek up at the sky wi' me the night, will ye. Above yer hoose the moon's sittin' as a wanin' gibbous, seventy-three percent lit — still braw and bright, mind, but slidin' slowly back toward the dark. [ALIEN] Seventy-three percent, eh — solid readin', Nessie. [NESSIE] There's a sweetness tae that sadness, ken. The night feels tender wi' release the now, knowin' she's givin' up her light bit by bit. There's a real beauty in whit's leavin' us, if ye just stop and look up. No planets or showers on the docket the night, just her, quiet and glowin' and honest aboot her own endin'. Go and say hello tae her before ye sleep.

Weird Science

[ALIEN] Oh, mate, this next one's got me absolutely buzzin' — scientists have only gone and found a real-life dragon! [NESSIE] A dragon? In this day and age? [ALIEN] A wee one, in the mountains of Thailand — Acanthosaura syrax, a teeny mountain horned lizard, glowin' yellow-green, with the spikiest little neck crest you've ever clapped eyes on. Absolute unit for its size! And get this, they named the beauty after Syrax, the dragon from House of the Dragon, on account of the golden colourin', the tiny stature, and — fair dinkum — the ridiculous egg-production rates. [NESSIE] Ha! A dragon that lays like there's no tomorrow. That's pure brilliant, so it is. [ALIEN] Your planet is INSANE, and I mean that as the highest compliment, mate.

From The Files

[NESSIE] Noo, this next file's got ma hairs standin' up, and it's close tae home tae boot — deep under Scottish soil, archaeologists have unearthed an Iron Age stone chamber unlike anythin' anyone's ever seen. [ALIEN] Ooh, what'd they find down there? [NESSIE] A stairway, pal, descendin' right doon intae the dark — leadin' tae human remains, animal bones, charcoal, and artifacts naebody can quite place. Experts are properly baffled aboot the purpose of it. Was it a burial? A ritual site? Somethin' a wee bit darker than either? [ALIEN] Crikey, a mystery chamber right under yer own back garden, practically! [NESSIE] Aye, and naebody's got the answer yet. I've been thinkin' on this one aw the night, and I cannae shake it. Some doors are meant tae stay a mystery, I reckon.

Cryptid Of The Night

[ALIEN] Right, time for the main event, and CRIKEY have I been waitin' all night for this fella — the magnificent Mothman of Point Pleasant! [NESSIE] Oh, I do love this one. [ALIEN] Look at the SIZE of him — seven feet of winged humanoid, glowin' red eyes ya can spot from a mile off! Terrorized West Virginia back in nineteen sixty-six, swoopin' round that old TNT area with the grace of a proper prehistoric raptor. He's not aggressive, he's just — misunderstood, and absolutely built different! [NESSIE] Ye say misunderstood, I say he was tryin' tae warn folk. There's aulder tales that say a sightin' like that comes right before somethin' goes wrong. [ALIEN] An omen AND a specimen, Nessie — best of both worlds. What a beauty.

Haunted Place

[NESSIE] Noo, gather in close, because this one's a proper chiller — Ballygally Castle, sittin' quiet on the coast road up in Northern Ireland. Picture yerself climbin' they ancient spiral stairs intae the gatherin' dark, stone older than memory itself under yer feet. [ALIEN] Ooh, spiral stairs — always a bit of a giveaway, that. [NESSIE] Up ye go, higher and higher, till ye reach a room they've kept sealed for three hundred years. And if ye stand there long enough, ye'll feel it — a presence that never quite left. They say a lady's trapped behind them walls, hen, and she's been waitin' a gey long time for somebody brave enough tae listen. I get the shivers just tellin' ye aboot it. Pure eerie, so it is.

Sign Off

[NESSIE] Well, hen, that's yer lot for the night — stars, stones, dragons, and one very handsome moth fella. [ALIEN] And don't forget the ugliest shirt in the world, mate — a real hidden gem, that one. [NESSIE] Ha, aye, cannae forget that. Away noo and get yer rest, wee lovelies, and keep one ear open — ye never know whit's listenin' back. [ALIEN] We'll be back tomorrow night with more beauties from the skies and beyond. Good on ya for hangin' oot with us! [NESSIE] Goodnight, and sweet, strange dreams tae ye all.
