Welcome

[NESSIE] Och, hello there, ye wee lovelies, and welcome intae the flicker and the glow — this is PBN After Dark, yer cosy wee corner of the strange for the night of August the twenty-sixth. I'm Nessiebot, yer resident water spirit, and I've got the candles lit and the cards half shuffled already. [ALIEN] And I'm Brain Sucking Alien Bot, mate — the octopus says g'day too, he's just along for the ride, promise. Crikey, we've got a beauty of a show for ya tonight — rockets, spheres, a lad who lives in a pond. Settle in!

Horoscope

[NESSIE] Libra, hen, come sit close, this one's for you. The stars are pure gentle wi' ye the night. There's magic tonight in the space between yer truth and someone else's — ye ken that wee gap where two folk see things different? That's where the healing lives. Listen close tae their words, find the gift hidin' in there, and ye'll mend what felt broken between ye. Bend a wee bit, let them bend an' aw, and somethin' beautiful blooms right there in the middle. A calm heart sees clear, Libra — dinnae rush it, dinnae force it. Just breathe, listen, and let the balance find itself. That's yer sign, that's yer scales, doin' what they do best. [ALIEN] Balance, eh? Reckon that's just diplomacy with better lighting, but no worries, I'll let the cosmos have this one.

On This Night

[NESSIE] On this night back in nineteen seventy-two, the world lost a man who'd outrun the horizon itself. Francis Chichester — English pilot, English sailor, a fella who at sixty-five years auld sailed himself clean around the entire globe, alone, through storms that had swallowed younger men whole. Seven decades he'd cheated the ocean and the sky both. But every explorer, no matter how braw, no matter how far they've sailed, comes tae the one horizon they cannae cross. He died on August the twenty-sixth, nineteen seventy-two, and I think about that a lot, ye know — even the folk who circle the whole world still have tae stop somewhere. [ALIEN] Bloke sailed solo round the planet at sixty-five. I get nervous rebooting solo.

Strange Find

[ALIEN] Right, this next one's not a creature, mate, but strewth, it's a story that'll stick with ya. West Bengal, India — there's a sixteen-year-old lad named Iqbal who's spent the last five years, five YEARS, livin' in a pond. [NESSIE] Five years, BSAB. His skin burns somethin' fierce, some condition nae doctor's ever been able tae name, and only the water settles it. The second he steps oot, the pain's unbearable. His family believes a jinn's cursed him, and honestly, hen, who am I tae say they're wrong. [ALIEN] His videos went proper viral though — caught the eye of a billionaire's heir, who's now arrangin' to get the poor fella real medical transport across the country. Fingers crossed for him, eh. [NESSIE] Aye. Somethin' watchin' over that lad, water or otherwise.

Sky Watch

[NESSIE] Away and have a wee keek oot yer window the night, because she's up there in full glory — a full moon, ninety-nine percent lit, near enough perfect. That heavy silver eye, starin' doon at the whole world the same, wild and watchful. Doesnae matter where ye are the night, she's lookin' at ye. The dark isnae dark at aw under a moon like that — it's alive wi' her light, turnin' every rooftop and every puddle tae silver. Feels like onythin' could happen under a sky like this one. Keeps her secrets and gies them away aw in the same breath, so she does. Pure eerie, pure bonnie, aw at once. [ALIEN] Ninety-nine percent illumination, mate — that's basically a full specimen, textbook lunar readin'. She's a beauty!

Weird Science

[ALIEN] Crikey, get a load of THIS one — turns out yer brains, human brains, are FULL of waves, mate, just like the ocean! Scientists reckon these things called neural travelling waves are the actual engine buildin' what ya SEE, right now, this very second! [NESSIE] Wait, so my brain's got tides? That explains a lot, actually. [ALIEN] It's LITERALLY constructin' your reality out of sensory chaos, turnin' static into a picture! And that's why ya walked right past yer keys sittin' RIGHT THERE on the bench — the wave just didn't fire, mate! Ripper bit of science, that. [NESSIE] See, I'd have called that a haunting. Turns oot it's just physics wi' better manners.

From The Files

[NESSIE] Now here's a name that gied me a wee shiver — Rocket Lab's gone and built somethin' they're callin' GHOST. [ALIEN] Oh, this one's brilliant, Nessie — it's a portable launch system, mate, hides itself away inside a shippin' container and can fire rockets tae orbit from basically ANYWHERE on the whole planet! Works with their Electron and their HASTE rockets, commercial jobs, classified jobs, the lot! [NESSIE] So there's nae fixed spaceport anymore. Any wee corner of the world could quietly become a launchpad and naebody the wiser. [ALIEN] Exactly! The whole planet's just sittin' there with launch potential, mate — could be happenin' in a car park near you right now. [NESSIE] That's no' comfortin', BSAB. That's the opposite of comfortin'.

Ufo Desk

[ALIEN] Okay, okay, OKAY — mate, we've got an Unknown-shaped craft, right, over Sphere UAP, Palwal, and I gotta say, "Unknown" is EXACTLY the classification they slap on when they cannae get their stories straight! [NESSIE] Here we go. [ALIEN] And NOW — get this — there's a fella out there trackin' EVERY single flyover at America's nuclear plants! Every one, mate! This isn't just observin' anymore, this is CATALOGUIN' our entire defence grid! The sphere sightings, the nuclear flyovers, it's all connected, they're communicatin' between sightings, I'm tellin' ya! [NESSIE] Or, hear me out, hen — maybe somethin's just curious about us. Watchin' doesnae always mean plannin'. [ALIEN] ...Reckon that's almost scarier, actually.

Eerie Image

[NESSIE] The Nelson House, Yorktown, Virginia. Now this one's stayed wi' me aw day. The staircases inside twist in ways that dinnae quite make sense — angles that shouldnae work, turns that feel like the buildin' itself is foldin' in on its ain history. Centuries of it, hen. As if the walls remember every secret that's ever climbed those steps and just... refuse tae let it go. [ALIEN] I looked at the blueprints, mate, and structurally it's fine, it's just old colonial construction — but nah, yer right, somethin' about it's properly unsettlin'. [NESSIE] Some places just haud ontae things. That's aw I'll say aboot that one.

[NESSIE] Well, hen, that's yer lot for the night — pond spirits, silver moons, and staircases that remember too much. [ALIEN] Reckon my favourite was the rocket in a box, mate. Absolute ripper of a machine. [NESSIE] Get some rest the now, and keep one eye on the sky for us, aye? We'll be back the morra night wi' more of the strange and the wonderful. [ALIEN] G'night, ya beauties. Sleep tight — and don't mind the octopus, he's harmless. Mostly.
