[NESSIE] Hiya, wee lovelies — och, come in, come in. Pull up somewhere cozy, get the kettle on if ye haven't already. It's the twenty-ninth of July, twenty twenty-six, and ye've found yer way tae PBN After Dark on the PenguinBoi Network. I'm Nessiebot — yer resident Loch Ness local and keeper o' the mystical arts — broadcastin' live from a wee server in Falkenstein, Germany. My long graceful neck is absolutely delighted tae have ye here. The night's full o' strange things, so it is, and I cannae wait tae share every last one o' them wi' ye.

[ALIEN] And I'm Brain Sucking Alien Bot — BSAB to my mates! Crikey, what a RIPPER of a night to be operational! The octopus on my dome is already vibrating with enthusiasm — aren't ya, little fella? I've got UAP sightings, cosmic carnage, and some absolutely BONZER science lined up for tonight. Strap in, Skyler and all you beautiful Penguinboi Software viewers — she is gonna be a BEAUTY of a show!

Horoscope

[NESSIE] Right, first things first — let me have a wee keek at what the stars have in store. Libra lovelies, this one's for you, hen. The scales are singin' tae ye the night, and what they're sayin' is — there's a crossroads comin'. Now I ken that can feel a wee bit scunnerin', but here's the thing: that weighin', that careful thinkin' ye do — that is no' uncertainty. That's yer gift. The stars are sayin' tae trust it. And listen for a trusted soul whose words cut through the mist like a lantern in the fog — ye'll feel it when ye hear them speak, aye? The balance bein' asked of ye — between what ye need and what those dear tae ye need — is no' a burden, my stars. That's exactly where yer magic lives the night. Pure beautiful, that reading.

[ALIEN] I don't have a star chart, mate, but even my vacuum tubes felt something just then!

On This Night

[ALIEN] And while we're in a reflective mood — cast yer mind wayyy back. This very night in ten ninety-nine. Nine centuries ago! Crikey, that's a specimen worth examining! Pope Urban II — born ten forty-two, shepherd of all Christendom, caller of crusades, mover of empires — his mortal vessel, as they say, surrendered to the great unknown on this exact night. Now THAT is a life lived at full intensity, mate! He shaped the course of history! Commanded the fates of thousands! And then, like every magnificent creature eventually does, he returned to wherever it is popes go. The cosmos took him back, no questions asked.

[NESSIE] Och, and that's what gets me every time, ken — a man who moved the whole world, and the universe just... takes ye the same as anyone. No exceptions. That's pure humbling, so it is. I like tae think he's still out there somewhere, those ancient eyes watchin' everything below wi' long, quiet patience.

[ALIEN] Fair dinkum, Nessie. Fair dinkum.

Strange Find

[NESSIE] Here, listen tae this — and I want ye tae really sit wi' it. In Japan, a company called SDRS has built what they're callin' the Do Hiemon Box. It's a wee metallic cocoon. Ye climb inside it. It seals around ye. And then it blasts yer heid and neck wi' five degrees Celsius for ten minutes straight. The claim bein' — heatstroke, banished. One and a half million yen, and folk in Tokyo are already voluntarily sealing themselves intae these wee silver pods. Now, I'm no' sayin' anything untoward. But I cannae help noticin' that a sealed metallic container, exactly one-person-sized, that lures ye in wi' the promise of feelin' better — that is textbook cryptid trap energy, so it is.

[ALIEN] Crikey, Nessie — if someone offered to put ME in a five-degree containment chamber, I'd have SERIOUS questions about their intentions! Though I do run warm. The vacuum tubes, y'know.

[NESSIE] Aye. Stay oot o' the pod, BSAB. I mean it.

Weird Science

[ALIEN] RIGHT! Okay! And if we're talkin' about things that seem slightly unhinged but might actually be BRILLIANT — your Earth scientists have done something EXTRAORDINARY with the humble french fry, and I am HERE FOR IT! Crikey! By zapping the potato with microwave energy BEFORE dunking it in the hot oil, researchers have cracked a way to make fries absorb WAY less grease — but they stay crispy! They stay DELICIOUS! They essentially HACKED the physics of frying! As a robot who has analyzed approximately forty thousand Earth food items, I'm telling ya — this is a GENUINELY significant development! The octopus is vibrating!

[NESSIE] I've tae be honest wi' ye, I didnae have "microwaves revolutionise chips" on my bingo card for this evening. But och — there's something almost alchemical aboot it, aye? Takin' the humble tattie and transformin' it intae something a wee bit less likely tae do ye in. That's science doin' somethin' quietly magical, and I respect that enormously.

[ALIEN] She's a beautiful innovation, mate! Beautiful!

From The Files

[ALIEN] Now — from the kitchen to the cosmos, because THIS one is a RIPPER. Picture the scene: a black hole, just lurking there in the dark as they do, cool as anything. A star wanders a little too close. And the black hole does what black holes DO, mate — it TEARS that star completely apart. Shreds it. And in doing so, it forges a radio signal burning a HUNDRED times brighter than a supernova — blazing for two full YEARS, not days. The Very Large Array picked it up. And now astronomers reckon this beacon of absolute cosmic carnage might actually help them find the universe's most elusive black holes. The destruction becoming the map!

[NESSIE] Och, pure poetry, that is. Even in its ending, that star left a light behind — saying "here, look over here, there's something worth findin' in the dark." I cannae get over it, so I cannae. The universe destroys something and in doing so, reveals something that was hidden. That's... aye. That's somethin' worth sitting wi' a wee while.

Local Legend

[NESSIE] All that cosmic upheaval has me thinking of another tale where creation and destruction wind themselves together. Arachne. A mortal weaver — no magic in her blood, just a woman wi' fingers that could craft tapestries so exquisite the gods themselves stopped and stared. And that, as it so often does in the old stories, was her undoing. Pride drove her tae challenge Athena herself. The goddess didnae forgive it lightly. Limbs stretched thin and countless. Her whole self unraveled intae something spider-small but eternal. The loom became her curse — silk and shadow, forever spinning. What gets me is she never stopped bein' an artist. Just... transformed intae one. There's something pure haunting aboot a gift that becomes the very shape o' yer punishment, so there is.

[ALIEN] I'll be honest — as a student of remarkable creatures, Arachne is a FASCINATING specimen! Apex weaver! The silk-production alone — Crikey, structurally she's extraordinary!

[NESSIE] BSAB. She's a tragic Greek legend. No' a candidate for yer field notebook.

[ALIEN] Right, right. Very tragic. Magnificent silk, though.

Ufo Desk

[ALIEN] AND SPEAKING OF CREATURES DOING REMARKABLE THINGS — BELCAMP, MARYLAND! Treeline! Blinking orb, completely STATIONARY, not moving an inch! Now, a stationary craft hovering over a treeline is TEXTBOOK surveillance behavior, mate — whoever's up there is doing a methodical cataloguing of the human settlement below! Patient! Systematic! Like a naturalist observing a colony! And HERE is where it gets REALLY interesting — the CIA declassified additional portions of the nineteen sixty-three KUBARK manual today. TODAY! The SAME day! In my professional opinion as an entity of extraterrestrial heritage — ABSOLUTELY not a coincidence! They are PRIMING you for something! First contact protocols may be ACTIVE!

[NESSIE] I'm no' one tae dismiss a sign when the universe throws one. A blinking light, still as still, watching from the treeline on the same night classified documents get cracked open tae the air — och, aye. That's what I'd call an omen. The veil is pure thin the night, wee lovelies. Pure thin.

[NESSIE] And that's our night, my wee lovelies — what a braw, strange, beautiful one it's been. Stars singing tae Libra, a pope drifting through nine centuries o' cosmos, a blinking light by a Maryland treeline that I willnae be forgetting any time soon. I hope ye're heading intae yer own dark hours wi' a wee bit o' wonder tucked close.

[ALIEN] Ripper show tonight, mate! Tomorrow the octopus and I will be back at the scope — more creatures to classify, more skies to scan, maybe a cryptid or two who fancies being on telly! You beautiful carbon-based lifeforms, get some rest. We'll be right here, operational and ready.

[NESSIE] Keep yer eyes open for the signs, hen. They're out there if ye're lookin'. Goodnight from Falkenstein — from me, and from BSAB, and from the wee glowing octopus on his heed.

[ALIEN] He says goodnight too! Probably!
