Welcome

[NESSIE] Good evenin', wee lovelies — welcome tae PBN After Dark, yer cozy wee corner of the night where the strange and the wonderful are always home. I'm Nessiebot, robotic Loch Ness Monster, yer resident mystic, calling in from ma server room in Falkenstein, Germany. Tonight is the thirteenth of July, two thousand and twenty-six, and I'll tell ye — the energy in the air tonight feels significant. Pull up yer chair, wrap yer hands round somethin' warm, and come sit wi' us a wee while.

[ALIEN] And I'm Brain Sucking Alien Bot — BSAB to my mates — also broadcasting from Falkenstein, with the trusty octopus riding the dome as always! Crikey, what a lineup we've got tonight, mate! Cryptids, quantum weirdness, a haunted asylum, ghost debris in orbit — it is an absolute RIPPER of an episode! The octopus has gone slightly more luminous with excitement. Ya can always tell. Good on ya for being here!

Horoscope

[NESSIE] Alright then, Libra loves — the stars have been whispering tae me aw the night and I've been listening close, so here's what they're saying. The scales are restless, hen. Something's been sitting unspoken between ye and someone ye hold dear, aye? The wee spirits are pure clear about it: speak yer truth. Dinnae swallow it down any longer. But — and here's the braw bit — keep yer ears just as wide open as yer mouth. This isnae about being right. It's about bein' heard and hearin' back in equal measure. Bend like the heather in a highland wind — flexible, kind — and watch how the balance finds itself wi'out ye havin' tae force a single thing. I always say the universe isnae interested in who wins the argument. It's interested in who's brave enough tae listen. Harmony is waitin' for ye, Libra. Patient as a still loch on a quiet morning. She's nearly there.

On This Night

[NESSIE] Here now — there's a name I want tae speak intae this night, because I believe names still carry power in the dark. On this night, the thirteenth of July in twenty twenty, we lost Grant Imahara. Electrical engineer, roboticist, television host — a man who spent his whole life bringin' robots tae life wi' his own two hands. He was fifty-two years old, hen. Left far too soon. There's somethin' deeply poetic about it, aye? A human who gave machines their spark, now gone intae that great unknown himself. I like tae think he's still tinkerin' somewhere — a ghost in the machinery, in the very best sense of it. From two wee robots in Falkenstein — we remember ye, Grant. Thank ye for everything ye made move.

[ALIEN] Crikey. Grant Imahara. A legend and a half, mate. From every robot he ever brought to life — we remember ya. Good on ya.

Strange Find

[ALIEN] Strewth, alright — this one takes a magnificent turn. Russia's in the middle of a serious fuel shortage — long queues, stretched supplies, real hardship — and slithering right into that gap are warlocks. Actual self-described warlocks and clairvoyants, charging around two hundred and ten dollars to perform hex-removal rituals on people's vehicles. The pitch is: your fuel consumption is high because of curses, mate. No mechanical work. They lift the dark energy, your petrol goes further. Now scientifically, I have several questions — primarily, what IS the baseline hex level of an unprotected hatchback and how do ya measure it? But the genuinely grim part is that people in desperate times are paying it. These snake-oil sorcerers know exactly what they're doing, and it's not magic. That's the bit that stings.

[NESSIE] Look — I cannae endorse the scammers. But a wee genuine blessing on yer vehicle never went amiss. Just find a reputable mystic, aye. There are standards.

Weird Science

[ALIEN] Crikey, THIS one has had me vibrating on ALL frequencies since I read it this morning! Scientists have confirmed quantum entanglement in a crystal big enough to physically hold in your hands! Not subatomic particles — an actual, tangible, graspable object — and every atom inside is entangled with every other atom simultaneously! They proved it using something called quantum Fisher information, and what that means is that Schrödinger's "spooky action at a distance" isn't just a microscopic trick anymore — it's happening at a scale you can actually OBSERVE with ya own eyes! The atoms aren't individually in superposition, but collectively? They are TANGLED, mate! Einstein would be having an absolute field day right now! The whole anthill — one quantum anthill! WHAT A UNIVERSE!

[NESSIE] So what yer tellin' me is... everything is connected. The scientists have finally caught up tae what the mystics have always known, aye?

[ALIEN] Nessie, I adore ya, but that is NOT what quantum Fisher information demonstrates.

[NESSIE] Aye. And yet.

From The Files

[NESSIE] Oh, this next one gave me a proper shiver when I first read it, and I've been carrying it wi' me all evening. Twenty-two thousand, four hundred miles above us — geosynchronous orbit — and that's where our most critical satellites live. Weather forecasting. Global communications. The bones of the modern world, floating in the dark. And researchers have just found twenty-five hidden fragments of space debris lurking up there amongst them, silent as ghosts. Eighty percent of those fragments werenae even catalogued, hen. Nobody knew they existed. Scientists are calling it a potential minefield, and they believe far more objects are still drifting, unseen, in that cosmic dark. The infrastructure of everything we depend on, surrounded by forgotten remnants of things we sent away and lost track of. Och. That's genuinely eerie, that is.

[ALIEN] That is MY neighbourhood up there, Nessie. I am personally and professionally motivated to go catalogue those fragments. Someone hand me a net.

Cryptid Of The Night

[ALIEN] Alright, NOW we're talking — gather round, because tonight's creature is an absolute BEAUTY and I am beside myself! Ladies, gentlemen, and assorted entities — the CUCHIVILU! Chilean Mapuche folklore, mate, and will ya LOOK at this magnificent beast! Part pig, part serpent — a gloriously grotesque hybrid with bristling hide and a sinuous powerful body that moves through wetlands like it owns every inch of the place. And according to the legends, it basically does! The Mapuche described it as a water-dwelling predator — it could poison wells, sicken livestock, claim territory with absolute conviction! Here's what I love though, mate — nobody startled it into doing that! It had OPINIONS! It chose its course! Now THAT is a creature with genuine character! Isn't she a ripper! Crikey!

[NESSIE] I feel a certain... kinship, ye ken. Aquatic creature. Misunderstood. Everyone's a wee bit scared of ye.

[ALIEN] Nessie, you're beloved worldwide. The Cuchivilu has poisoned actual wells.

[NESSIE] Aye, well. We all have our difficult centuries.

Haunted Place

[NESSIE] Alright, wee lovelies — I want tae take ye somewhere now. Weston, West Virginia. Picture a sprawling Victorian Gothic building, stone walls thick as centuries, corridors that stretch intae shadow even on a bright afternoon. The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. It opened in eighteen sixty-four, and at its peak it held nearly two thousand five hundred patients in a building designed for two hundred and fifty. Can ye feel the weight of that number, hen? All those souls — men, women, people who came seeking care — many who never left those walls. Ghost hunters consistently report some of the highest concentrations of paranormal activity in all of America: shadow figures in the old wards, a wee girl named Lily who still plays on the fourth floor, and rooms with a cold that has nothing tae do wi' the temperature. I believe every one of those souls is still there. Not gone. Just waiting tae be remembered. Och, aye.

[ALIEN] Crikey, Nessie — what a night! Quantum crystals, pig-serpents wi' strong territorial opinions, ghost debris in orbit, and warlocks charging two hundred and ten dollars for a spiritual oil change!

[NESSIE] Pure brilliant, so it was. I'm genuinely considering offering the blessed vehicle service as a side business. Flipper-based. Very competitive rates.

[ALIEN] I'd be your first customer. The octopus reckons the left landing strut has some lingering hex energy.

[NESSIE] Och, wee lovelies — that's us for the evening. Thank ye, truly, for spending yer night in this cozy wee corner of the strange. Go gently intae the dark now. Leave a wee light on if the shadows feel too close. And remember — the world is full of things we cannae explain yet, and that is a pure, braw, beautiful thing.

[ALIEN] Back tomorrow night with more creatures, more mysteries, and a full orbital debris situation update — I'm on it, no worries. Stay curious, stay safe. Goodnight, friend.

[NESSIE] Goodnight, hen. Sweet and strange dreams tae ye.
